Hello everyone! I just wanted to say a quick hello + introduce you to my newest home haircut.

Hello Sue // Hello New Hair

Hello Sue // Hello New Hair

I've been cutting + coloring my own hair for years + years now, but I've decided to give up the dye + just let my hair grow out to its natural color. It had been blue-black for almost 5 years, which is quite intense to change, so I had to completely cut the color out, rather than bleach it to make it happen. It took longer than I thought, but I'm really happy with the color, which I haven't seen since high school. It's a rich chestnutty brown with slight black + auburn highlights and some sweet little grey sprouts here + there. I've actually been trying to let it grow long, since I cut it off moons ago, but I can't seem to stick with it. There's something rather cathartic about keeping it this length, but how sweet would a pair of criss-crossed braids be? I'll keep you posted, but don't hold your breath!

Have you ever cut your own hair or let a pal cut it for you? I'd love to know how it turned out!

Oh my goodness you have such amazingly lovely hair. I use to cut my own hair but it was mostly because I was too embarrassed to go to a salon myself and have them look at me like "What in the world have you done to your hair for the past two years?!"
So now I just let it grow...and grow...and grow...so when I do get up the nerve to go to a salon they can look at me and say "um...we need to chop this whole thing off!"
It'll be fun, right? :)

Ooooh--- I love the gorgeous way your hair curls around--such a lovely cut for you!! The color is pretty, too... I am trapped in the blue/black phase still.

My dad was a barber and taught me how to cut hair, so I started trimming my own about ten years ago. Then I started cutting it shorter and shorter (in the middle of the night, no less) when the spontaneous mood would hit. I can proudly say I've shaved it three times, and it is cathartic. But I want long hair again!!

Almost a year ago after being VERY frustrated with growing my hair out, I took our Wahl Clippers to my own head and have been cutting my own hair ever since. There are times when I want to grow it out, but the money I save by not going to a salon and the convenience of doing it myself tend to sway me back to keeping my shorter locks.

your hair looks amazing! i would love to be able to pull off shorter styles - i've had my hair cut professionally three times in the past 8+ years - all three were attempts at cute short dos, but on me they were don'ts....
i cut my own hair when it was more styled, now my sister trims it for me because it's too long to get even in the back on my own. but i cut my mom/dad/husband/sister's hair, and a few random friends, all the time. my sister is a cute little hipster who always wants odd things, so that's always fun to cut :)
way cheaper than going to a salon, and less stressful! i don't want strangers touching my head in the midst of hairspray clouds and messing things up because they never get it right...

when my hair was shorter, i loved giving myself haircuts, chop chop! and i felt like a new person, all by my own doing.

Yes, I cut my own bangs and the side of my hair once. It was terrible. My friend who owns a salon said "who cut your hair last???"

P.S.- I love your work. I have one of your satchels, and I get so many compliments on it.

I adore your hair cut! Aside from your cute berets, it's the second thing that made me check out your blog!

My brother has cut my hair for ten years now (although he hates when I do my own color). I only cut my own bangs ... and I'm not very good at a straight line. HA!

It turned out great! I've been cutting my own bangs for years, but I've been afraid of cutting my own hair...any tips (esp. for the back)?
